Relax with friends and family in the comfortable living rooms with truly outstanding views over all of the Piazza Santa Croce! The Medici delivers on so many fronts, but the views will mesmerize you!

The Medici apartment is made for a dynasty with space for everyone to come together. This historic palazzo in Piazza Santa Croce contains totally up-to-date apartments in central Florence, Italy. Not only are the furnishings luxurious, the views over the piazza to the handsome medieval church are breathtaking. Each apartment features its own historic atmosphere with Renaissance murals, family heirloom antiques, and talented decorating. Many guests spend the season here, returning year after year as do we.

Location

Conveniently located in the heart of the historical center of Florence, in Piazza Santa Croce, the palazzo is a landmark Renaissance Palazzo, and one of the few left in the historic center of Florence with a dramatic frescoed facade.

During late May thru late June there is noise in the piazza related to the Calico Storico, historic soccer matches. Late May is bleacher set up, June is practices and matches. If you can catch any of the play-offs (dates not advised in advance) or the final on June 24th, you'll get a lifetime treat and the "best seat in the house". We were astounded when we watched a game from this palazzo. For more information look up Calcio Storico on YouTube or Netflix Home Game series Episode 1.

Exterior

Many people passing through Piazza Santa Croce notice Giovanni di Ser Giovanni`s 1620 frescoes on the overhanging facade this handsome building, but few realize they can actually stay here. The 16th-century palazzo is owned by the gracious Contessa, who rents out truly spacious apartments to anyone who has ever dreamed of lying in bed near a roaring fire under a 17th-century frescoed ceiling or sipping tea in a living room surrounded by trompe d`oeil Roman ruins with a 16th-century wood ceiling above.

Interior

The elegant living room has three floor-to-ceiling windows which give you the finest possible view onto the piazza. This was the formal area for the noble family to welcome guests in past times, so has the best views and light.  A second, adjoining living room has aseating area with the same large windows. Behind is the large kitchen with a small dining table.

The formal dining room is large with an antique table that will seat twelve.

Throughout the apartment are the original beamed ceilings from the 1500s, the time of the Renaissance.

The front bedroom, the one that faces the piazza, has a floor to ceiling glass wall between the sleeping area and the window area, offering a complete sound barrier between the sleeping area and the piazza and the adjoining public rooms.

For the 7th person the living room has a sofa bed or a cot can be provided.

Use of the Palazzo private gym included.

Great apartment in a Firenze Palazzo

by Michele Farrugia

The apartment at Santa Croce was perhaps the loveliest holiday rental we have ever stayed in. It was very spacious, beautifully and comfortably furnished with lots of antiques and personality. The kitchen was better equipped than mine at home. We all enjoyed the views over the lively piazza and were able to walk everywhere. When we needed help with a blown fuse (!) our host was there within 10 minutes to help us out. Thank-you for the opportunity to stay there.

Amazing apartment in Florence

by Linwood

No review can do this apartment the justice it deserves! My family and I stayed at the S Croce Medici for a week in June and fell in love with the apartment and location. From a smooth and seamless check in until the end of our stay this apartment exceeded our needs with its spacious layout and fantastic views. We were even treated outside our windows with the semifinals of the Calcio Storico in the plaza and enjoyed watching such a unique sport. We would definitely stay here again! Note: for individuals 6 feet (1.8 meters) or taller be careful of bedroom and bathroom doorways. The doorways are shorter than what you may expect. But I still give this apartment a 11/10!

Excellent Service

by Mike Collazo

We visited Rome, Florence, and Venice and stayed at Italy Perfect properties at all three stops (Elegante in Rome, S. Croce Medici in Florence, and Cassia in Venice). We had an amazing time and would highly recommend Italy Perfect to anyone! I was especially appreciative of the excellent services offered by Italy Perfect staff that ensured we had unforgettable experiences everywhere we went (e.g. airport transfers, background on locations, tips and tricks, etc.). Thank you, Italy Perfect - five stars!

Your kind and respectful attitude, Mike, made it a pleasure to work with you. The Italy Perfect Team

Italy Perfect exceeded our expectations. We used them in Venice, Rome and Florence. Pat and the Italy Perfect team did everything possible to ensure we picked the right properties and looked after us from the time we booked to the time we departed. This was everything we hoped for visiting another country. Handled COVID delays and the constant confusing rule changes. I will recommend them to friends and anyone visiting Italy. Thank you Italy Perfect! You made our trip memorable, relaxing and enjoyable

Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time in Italy in August!Thank you so much for all of your help. I also wanted to mention that the driver we had, Benjamin, was absolutely wonderful and I appreciated the recommendation. He helped make our trip even better, sharing all kinds of information with us on our long drives to and from Rome. And the tours were fantastic! We loved Medici. Thanks again! I can't say enough about how amazing Italy Perfect was. I had been trying to use AirBnb and HomeAway for weeks attempting to navigate the perfect location for a group of us in Florence. Every time I would find a place it would be already booked (although the sites didn't show that). I was about to give up when I discovered Italy Perfect literally days before departing. They were amazing. So incredibly helpful, I even spoke to someone on the phone who offered to go buy gifts I wanted to give my fellow travelers when we arrived. The customer service was beyond compare. The apartment was better than I ever could have imagined. Comfortable, clean, and just plain easy. It truly felt like home. The location was absolutely perfect. I can't wait to go back and stay there again... or check out another one of their properties. From now on I will skip right past those other sites and go straight to Italy Perfect. I wish I would have realized that earlier and not wasted my time with all the stress!! [Thank you Andrejka, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again! The Italy Perfect Team]

Traveling with four kids and two adults was challenging throughout Europe but this apartment fit us well. The apartment may actually have been too big as we never used the living room or dining room. The kitchen has couches and chairs so like all good parties we ended up spending time as a family in the kitchen. St. Croce Square is a great place to be, you feel like you are in the heart of everything. Though we had most breakfasts in the apartment at the foot of the stairs is a great place to eat.(Ristorante Boccadama) In fact we liked it so mush we ate there twice, a little crazy thinking how many other great places in Florence we could have gone. While we are talking food, Great burgers and beer are to be found at "Off the Hook" just down the road and if you are really craving a change from Italian food there is also a great Raman noodle place also just a little ways from the apartment. Having come from an all included apartment in Venice it was a surprise to us when the apparent managers started talking us through all of the changes we would face. Tourest charges, electricity and gas charges all seemed overwhelming. We did do laundry but hung it out and kept the AC low so sleeping was a bit uncomfortable. When we checked out total extra fees were 30 euro! Darn if I had not been so spooked by the fees we would have been a lot more comfortable! Bad dad... Stay here and enjoy! [Thank you David! Great apartment in wonderful area of Florence. Overall price was reasonable but would have preferred one lump sum price instead of extras (i.e, gas). Apartment was beautifully furnished with everything that you would need or want. [We are happy you enjoyed the S. Croce Medici apartment and the wonderful location. We'll pass your feedback along to the owner but glad you were aware, even before reserving, that the utilities are paid separately based on your usage. We carefully ensure all potential guests are fully informed of this common practice in Italy where utilities are 6x the prices in North America. The Italy Perfect Team]

The Medici apartment was in an excellent location. It was just right for 3 couples plus had large living and eating areas so we had others in our party staying in other Italy Perfect apartments visit almost daily for happy hour drinks and snacks recounting the sights and sounds of the day. The kitchen was excellent and well equipped. Our greeter was very helpful and made the move in process very easy. Right out your front door is the Santa Croce church which is excellent. Italy Perfect contracted Veronica as our tour guide for several places in the city. She was very affordable and very knowledgeable and brought to life what you were seeing. She had the "whisperers" so everyone could hear her even in the jam packed Uffizi. A tip on seeing the David. Go in the late afternoon. North of the entrance where the long line goes in and on the opposite side of the street is the "timed ticket" booth. Walk up and ask to go in "now". Costs 4 euros more but you are inside in less than 10 minutes. Worked for everyone of us in our group. Italy Perfect contracted for a couple of excellent vans who took 12 of us to Siena and San Gimignano for the day. Excellent vehicles and drivers - takes you right to the entrances. Very reasonably priced. Don't miss the Siena Duomo and the Italy Perfect recommended restaurant had the best gnocchi I have ever eaten! We went in late October, which was kind of cool for eating outdoors, so I'd recommend mid to late September. It was a fabulous week in Florence and Italy Perfect was a big part of it. We will definitely use them for our next trip. [Thank you Andy, we are delighted that you had a wonderful stay! The Italy Perfect Team]

The accommodations were good and in a great location. Easy walking to many places of interest. We were fortunate in that the weekend we were there, there was a concert in the square in front of Santa Croce featuring the world renown tenor Placido Domingo. We got to watch and listen from our apartment balcony. Probably at least ten thousand ticket buyers as we took it all in for free. Great timing.

We rented Medici along with Giotto for our family of 13 over Christmas. It was truly like living in a palace ! The apartment was huge but cozy, and had plenty of space for 9 adults and 4 children to dine and "hang out!" The kitchen was incredibly well appointed! (There was even a food mill! ) We were able to cook dinner for Christmas Eve, Christmas , and two other evenings with ease! Grocery stores, shopping, and restaurants were all within easy walking distance. All this and overlooking the beautiful Piazza Santa Croce! [Thank you so much Deborah. Our apartment was very comfortable, quiet, clean, and well equipped. It was located in a historic palazzo turned into apartments on the Piazza Santa Croce. Our interests were in history, art, and architecture so the location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere and even manage one of our party in a wheelchair. There is a "super" market a few blocks away for anything from staples to fine wine. We ate well everyday in a restaurant near our morning excursions, so all over the historic area. Food was great everywhere. Our travel companions are world-class consumers of gelato and give world-class honors to the small gelateria around the corner, facing the convent associated with Santa Croce. The folks at Italy Perfect were very helpful. And, yes, I would certainly seek them out again and recommend them to friends.

We were six long time friends looking for a place to stay in Florence...we stumbled upon your website and it was smooth sailing from that day. We contacted Italy Perfect, told them we needed (3)bedrooms &(3)baths they recommended the S.Croce Medici and it was PERFECT...Italy PERFECT. The location is terrific, the apartment is spectacular but do not use the washing machine...it takes forever. It is a true experience to stay in an apartment in Florence. We would go back in a heart beat and have already recommended it to other friends. Thank you for the best week. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. A long washing machine cycle is normal for Italy, up to 90 minutes, because the water is heated internally.

We had the extreme pleasure of staying in the Medici for a week with friends. It is spacious, beautiful, and overlooks the historic Santa Croce piazza and the stunning Santa Croce Cathedral (which houses Michelangelo's, Machiavelli's, and Dante's (empty) tombs. A tall gorgeous statue of Dante presides out front on the right to make up for his absence inside. Exiled from Florence, he was welcomed in Ravenna where he is buried). The Uffizi is a five minute walk away, the Duomo about 10. Also, a 10 minute walk to Dante's house/museum, and a 20 minute walk across the Arno and upward to the right to Galileo's home. The Medici is filled with light and is equipped with a sumptuous kitchen/dining/living room, as well as a separate generous dining room. The beds are extremely comfortable. We'd gladly stay there again.

All eight of us were enchanted with "Mimi" and "Medici" in Florence. The apartments were lovely, comfortable, very well equipped. And Cecile and Greta took wonderful care of us. As I'm sure you know, the location is wonderful. I was one of the ones staying in "Mimi". I can't stop missing that terrace, with the views of the Duomo and Santa Croce and of the Tuscan hills, all to the sound of real (not recorded) church bells.

This summer we travelled to Florence with two other couples and stayed at the Medici apartment for one week.  Prior to selecting the apartment we decided to work with Italy Perfect because of their great reputation. We looked through the website and saw a couple of apartments that we thought might work for our group. We needed three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a nice kitchen, a living room large enough for all of us, and we wanted to be in an area of Florence that would be close-in, but not too noisy. We called Italy Perfect and spoke with Pat, who was able to give us advice on what would best meet our group’s needs. Ultimately we selected the Medici apartment because it met all of our basic requirements and looked like it had amazing windows with a view to the piazza. When we arrived in Florence we were met by a friendly woman, right on time, at the location we had pre-arranged. There were stairs to the apartment that we generally used, but a small elevator was also just inside the front door. We were very pleasantly surprised that the apartment was even nicer than it looked online. It is huge! The bedrooms are all larger than standard U.S. hotel rooms. The appliances in the kitchen are up-to-date, including a full-sized refrigerator.  I think our favorite part of the apartment was the overall old-world atmosphere and the amazing full length windows that look out at the pizza. Several mornings we ran down to a bakery on the piazza, came back upstairs and had breakfast watching the piazza come to life. It is a beautiful area! I would definitely recommend this apartment. There is certainly space for a larger group than we had. The location is very convenient to the major sites in Florence. It, simply, was a beautiful and comfortable home for our week in Florence.

Oh my gosh, the trip was the most beautiful experience we could have asked for. Wonderful!!! Thank you for your services! I would go back tonight if I had the chance. The Medici Apartment in Florence is simply the most beautiful apartment in the world. Perfect for our big group. Stately and palatial, with every accomodation we could want. Huge windows open onto the square where excitement and life take place before your eyes. Felt like living in a Renaissance Palace!!! Renee, who manages the Pallazzo, was so wonderful and kind and warm. We most enjoyed the sights, the activity on the Piazza, the local cafes in the Ambrogio (sp?) neighborhood, the art, the palatial, restful apartment. The art, the art, the art! Noise was an issue but we got a system down of using the air conditioners and fans at night to drown out the partying on the square. It turned out fine and we got used to the system of windows closed and white noise on. No other drawbacks or problems at all - everything was truly perfect. The noise wouldn't have bothered us if we didn't have to be up in the AM with the kids, if we could have slept late like the locals it would have been fine. Perfect, the perfect location - walked everywhere and best gellati in the world was only two blocks away. the Medici Apartment is right in the middle of things - the ONLY place to stay in Florence is what we all decided. The Ambrogio neighborhood was perfect, very authentic and no tourists, The Standa market was perfect - we went there daily to get food to cook in our apartment every night. We ate out only once and enjoyed great dinners around the huge dining room table. The leather school behind Santa Croce was wonderful! Tips: Try to live like a local, get off the beaten path, book museum tickets ahead of time from home to avoid lines. Your service was wonderful and thorough and helpful in every way. Seriously.

Local Sights

Piazza della Signoria (7 mins Walking)
Center of power of Florence since ancient times with the David statue by the Palazzo Vecchio, the ancient seat of government, and the loggia of dramatic statues each of which has a story about politics and power. Imagine the Bonfires of the Vanities here and the triumphal return of the Medici.
Uffizi Gallery (7 mins Walking)
One of the greatest museums in the world. The defining collection of Renaissance art. A tour is recommended.
Duomo (8 mins Walking)
Florence's famous and glorious cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, beautiful to gaze at since the 1300s. Don't miss and, if you can, read about -- then visit the amazing dome by Brunelleschi erected without scaffolding!
Ponte Vecchio (12 mins Walking)
Awesome ancient bridge over Florence's Arno river that has survived 800 years. Famous for the shops of goldsmiths along its length.
